What to expect

I photograph newborn, children, maternity and small families. My studio is home based. I have various backdrops, flooring and props. My style is classic, simple and uncluttered. My goal is to provide you with clean, simplistic but beautiful images. In my post processing I often add a vintage flare to my studio pictures, and add warmth and vibrancy to my outdoor pictures to bring them to life. Most images will also be available in black & white and/or sepia. I do occasionally take newborn and children pictures outside depending on the child and if the weather permits. Maternity sessions are done both outdoor and indoor. All family sessions are done outdoor due to the size of my studio and are therefore always weather dependent.

Newborn photography
Newborns are best photographed within the first two weeks of birth, the earlier the better; in order to try to obtain those beautiful sleepy newborn photos. Please try to schedule a session at a time when you know the baby is normally well fed and sleepy. If you are traveling from a ways away, you can plan to feed upon arrival at my studio. We may pause at any time during the session for you to feed your baby and cuddle. Your baby’s wellness and safety is of highest priority. A newborn session can take anywhere from 1 to 3 hours. Newborns are usually photographed nude but with discretion. I will never take a photo or use a pose that you are uncomfortable with. My studio is kept warm for the sake of your baby, so dress lightly. I expect that your baby will probably pee on my blankets and props so please don‘t worry and everything is washed once the session is finished. I recommend booking your newborn session during your pregnancy - we can always reschedule if needed.

What to bring:
The essentials for your newborn (bottle, blanket, diapers, binky, etc).
I recommend bringing a black long sleeve shirt for mom or dad if you wish to have photos taken with your newborn.

Babies, toddlers and children
There are a couple of baby stages that are particularly good for photography - when your baby will lay on the stomach and lift up his/her head, and when your baby will sit up without support but doesn’t crawl. I photograph babies both dressed and (mostly) nude. Sometimes a hat/headband and a diaper cover makes for the best baby photos.
Taking pictures of toddlers can be challenging as they don’t sit still for long, but it is also the time when their personality starts to shine which is fun to capture.

What to bring:
Depending on the age I recommend bringing various outfits. Puffy dresses on a girl can make for classy photos, and a white top goes well with headbands and hats. I have a growing selection of these accessories but feel free to bring any favorites. For a boy jeans, shorts, and a nice button down shirt work great.
Bring snacks and drinks in case your baby needs a break.

Proofing
Within 2 weeks of your session a password protected online gallery will be available for your viewing and to order prints. The gallery will be available for 1 week. You can make your order per email, but I am also more than glad to meet up with you so you can place your order in person and I can explain the various print options. With regards to print sizes please keep in mind that the proportion 4x6 is the original image proportion and with most other sizes there will be some cropping of the image.
